CDC: Economic Studies of Immunization Policies and Practices

Funding Opportunity Number: RFA-IP-15-001

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to obtain economic information about vaccines and immunization policies, programs, and practices using economic and decision analyses and other appropriate methods. The results of these economic studies will be used to help inform policy and the development of effective interventions. Three studies will be conducted, including an analysis of the financial, economic, and epidemiologic relationships between vaccine-preventable infectious diseases and chronic diseases in adult populations, and the opportunity costs for immunization of failure to prevent chronic diseases. Study 1 may include, but need not be limited to influenza and pneumococcal diseases and diabetes. Study 2 will focus on an estimation of the costs of norovirus disease. Study three will involve an analysis of issues related to provider reimbursement for adult vaccination services.

Application Deadline: March 3, 2015

Loaner CWRU ChromeBooks Support Data Privacy when Travelling

When it comes to travelling internationally with computer devices containing yet-unpublished research data or other private information, the University Compliance Office and CWRU Information Security Office urge you to “travel clean.” Consider leaving at home devices containing research data or other sensitive information which may be vulnerable to loss, theft, or export-licensing-related considerations.

The University Compliance Office and CWRU Information Security Office have partnered to make clean ChromeBooks (laptops containing no hard drive) available for loan to individuals travelling abroad on CWRU business. The ChromeBooks are integrated with CWRU’s Google Apps services, and are available for loan from Kelvin Smith Library on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit the Circulation Desk to check one out.

If you are unsure about any data or materials you plan to bring as you travel abroad, call Lisa Palazzo, Director of Export Control and Privacy Management, 368-5791, or Boyd Kumher, University Chief Compliance, Export Control & Privacy Officer, 368-0833, or email exportcontrol@case.edu.

If you have questions regarding information security, call Tom Siu, Chief Information Security Officer, 368.6959, or email ciso@case.edu.

Student Researchers and COI Disclosures

Student researchers who are listed on human subjects research protocols are required to have an Outside Interest Disclosure form on file with the Office of Research Administration (ORA). To help establish that the design, conduct, and reporting of research will be free from bias resulting from Investigator financial conflict of interests, disclosures are required not only for faculty and staff, but also student researchers.

For more information on the CWRU Outside Interest Disclosure process, see: https://research.case.edu/Compliance/COI.cfm.

FOIA Requests

CWRU researchers who receive requests for information that invoke the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) should contact the Office of General Counsel. This should be done immediately so the extremely short deadlines under FOIA can be met. General Counsel can work with the faculty member to take steps to protect proprietary or confidential information from grants and protocols prior to the release of the requested information. Individual researchers should not release information without first consulting with the CWRU Office of General Counsel.

For more information, contact the Office of General Counsel at: http://www.case.edu/president/counsel/contactus.html.
