Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)

Pipeline to Proposal Awards Tier I - Pre-Engagement/Community Projects fund the building of the community and capacity necessary to later develop a patient-centered comparative effectiveness research (CER) project addressing the issue of interest to the awardee

The Tier I awards are for individuals or groups who are not usual candidates for research funding. This program is intended to support those individuals and groups with critically important ideas who may not have other opportunities for research funding. In order to qualify for Tier I funding, you must demonstrate success in a past community-building project. The project doesn’t have to have been health-related. You need to explain how you engaged the community and formed partnerships to achieve your goal and how, by building relationships and forming partnerships, you were able to overcome any obstacles.

Letter of Intent (LOI) deadline: December 23, 2014

Application Deadline: February 16, 2015

Funds available up to: $15,000

For more information, visit the PCORI website.

Visits by Federal Law Enforcement Officers

The Office of General Counsel will communicate directly with the agency to ensure that any inquiries are addressed completely and appropriately.

Questions? Contact Lisa Palazzo (368.5791) or Boyd Kumher (368.0833) in the CWRU Compliance Office.

New Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Rate for Use in Proposals

DHHS has approved a (3) three year F&A rate of 58.5% for CWRU, which is a 1.5 percentage point change from our previous rate of 57%. This rate will be effective through June 2016.

SPARTA System Used for All External Funding Proposals

When seeking external support for research and other sponsored projects, a funding proposal must be entered in Sparta.

Sparta is not just for federal funding. It is also to be used for foundation funding, state awards, and contracts with industry sponsors. University personnel cannot negotiate agreements with industry until a funding proposal is entered in Sparta. In addition, a funding proposal must be entered online even when applications are made directly to a foundation.

Please consult with the Office of Research Administration or the SOM Office of Grants and Contracts if you need assistance entering a funding proposal online.
